I'm really excited about this! This "photo" was taken with a Scanning Electron Microscope of lake water that had been treated in a special way to preserve the three dimensional look of the organic contents. I got to learn how to work the SEM yesterday during lab--it's way cool!
My partner and I took an image of our silver naonoparticles from lab which didn't turn out great and then I got to mess around with a lakewater sample and saved this image.
The length across is about 9 micrometers. I don't know what this is (pretty sure it's an organism of some kind), but it was in the lakewater sample with a ton of other things. I only had time to save this image though. I could see bacteria and other microscopic life through the microscope.

I love biology. If you haven't read "Genetic Entropy and the Mystery of the Genome," you should, because you'd probably love it.
